Every time I come to Austin, I've got to eat at Wu Chow. As someone with dietary restrictions and a sensitive stomach, I appreciate that they can accommodate and offer a large majority of their food gluten free. I'd say the food is meant to be shared and I highly recommend going that route. The dry fried local green beans are to die for. They are my favorite and I get them every time. The flavors are on point and they are cooked to perfection. This was my first time getting their Wok Toasted Cumin Lamb...I've been missing out. The lamb was delicious and the cumin wasn't overwhelming, it was just right. We also had the Scallion Hugging Beef, Chengdu Chili shrimp and Singapore Noodles. The beef and shrimp were flavorful and really good. The noodles were my least favorite and kind of underwhelming. Overall, the food is amazing and I wish there were more Chinese places like this.

Delicious place for Sunday dim sum brunch. Everything was delicious, especially the Soup dumplings, turnip cakes (both shiitake and beef) & beef bao.

Our first time here did not disappoint. The service was stellar with our waitperson offering many suggestions and helping me avoid anything too hot while helping my partner burn his tastebud to his hearts desire. We both started with soup - the egg noodle was flavorful without being overly salty which I really enjoyed. The dumplings were well made and the soup dumplings made me recall a trip to New York. My salt and pepper squid was perfection on a plate. I did not in fact try the Hunan Beef but heard no complaints from my partner who devoured it. Definitely a great place to kick off a night out or to enjoy a leisurely, intimate dinner.

Our monthly pre-theater date night brought us to Wu Chow. I'd been to the one downtown before but not this location. We made reservations, got in and got out with a great meal - all during SxSW weekend! The food is Szechuan style Chinese and is decently close to authentic. The ingredients are local sourced and fresh, with more than generous portion sizes. The dumplings were a little thick and given a chance I'd skip them next time in favor of another small bite. The hot and sour soup had exactly the right texture. Would not hesitate to return.

My cousin booked this place for her sister bachelorette dinner before we went out. Service was great but because of our large group they just did a set menu. They bought everything out one by one and dumplings and pot stickers were delicious! I enjoyed the other entrees like the garlic green bean and beef stir fry but it was a bit on the salty side. I really enjoyed all the different assortments of dumpling though. They had great flavors and were so good. Oh the restaurant is really dark which is kind of weird to me cus we couldn't see anything until you got to the bathroom door then it was too bright

This place was perfect!! The food, the service, the server was so nice! And the place felt relaxed and comfortable which was perfect for date night!! Our server Christian had the friendliest attitude and was so helpful! He helped us pick out choices and made us smile and laugh while he did! If anyone goes here make sure you get him and a server! He told us that everything on the menu was meant to be eaten by two. The clay pot Snapper was huge! It came with a bowl of rice to eat with it was so spicy and delicious!!! I was sucked in on the first bite and couldn't put it down! We ordered some appetizers as well and were not disappointed by any of them. The chicken & Taro Egg rolls while looking thin were full of flavor and zest. The sauce that came with it was awesome, almost like a citrus/orange flavor. The cucumbers were incredible as well. The Tangerine Beef was PERFECT! It came with small peppers and onions covered in this tangerine glaze and the beef was perfectly crispy. I'm telling you this is an absolute must here. If you order one thing on this menu have it be this. The soup dumplings were amazing as well, and it was so nice that the gentleman who brought it out to us also offered to help show us how to eat it since it was our first time with soup dumplings. I don't care if you're looking for a nice place to eat, somewhere to sit down at the bar and have a couple of drinks. It's located off of N. Lamar and is the perfect way to end the evening. You guys have got to go!!

I definitely recommend this place. The food was so delicious! I can't decide if I like the green beans or shrimp the best. Or the noodle soup. I liked em all. I will say it's a little bit on the saltier side but personally I thought it was tasty! Service was good. We walked in on a Sat lunch, not too busy at all. It's a little dark inside but we sat by the window so it was brighter. Free parking lot right next door. Sundays are dimsum days.

I first visited Wu Chow at the downtown location and loved it. Except that it's downtown, which means parking is impossible. I was so excited when I heard they were opening in the former Rosedale Kitchen space. It is also closer to home! The entrance is really striking, and parking is a breeze. They did a really beautiful job with the interior. On both occasions, we had amazing service. For drinks, we asked for bartenders choice mocktails thinking we would all get the same drink. But the bartender decided to make 4 different drinks! It's the little things like this that make a restaurant experience. Our staples are the spicy cucumbers, dry local green beans and chengdu chili chicken, but you really can't go wrong here. I really appreciate their labeling of GF items. I've also had the sichuan fried chicken, which is a treat as a GF person. It's really crunchy and spicy! The hunan style beef is also very good. But perhaps my favorite dish is the singapore noodles. Full of flavor and very soft, these noodles are so so good. I highly recommend Wu Chow North Lamar. The service is great, the ambiance is amazing, the food fantastic. You get a lot of bang for your buck here, and I will be visiting frequently!
